Two institutes could become one

Two institutes could become one

(11 April 2005 – Australia) Two of Australia’s peak financial services bodies, the Australasian Institute of Banking and Finance (AIBF) and the Securities Institute of Australia (SIA), could become a single organisation later this year. The two organisations have been discussing a potential merger for almost two years and believe the complementary strengths of both organisations would benefit current and future members.

The members of both organisations will vote on the merger once more information on how a combined AIBF and SIA might look is released later this year.

At the moment, the SIA has a well recognised financial services education and training offering with some 11,000 members.

The AIBF also provides training programs but its real strength lies in its membership of 10,000 banking and financial services professionals.
