Vietnamese banks upgrade systems

(26 June 2007 - Vietnam) US based software and processing outfit SunGard is seeing good business in Vietnam's developing financial services sector, signing its second Vietnamese bank this year. SunGard has signed up Saigon Bank for Industry and Trade (Saigonbank) to its core banking product System Access SYMBOLS.

This follows the agreement with Ho Chi Minh City Housing Development Bank (HDB) in April.

Saigonbank required a new core banking system to help it modernise its banking operations, helping the bank compete against domestic and foreign banks entering Vietnam.

"We needed a core banking solution that would cater to existing product development needs and was flexible enough to easily adapt to the future banking requirements of our customers," Saigonbank said.
