Visa taps into social media for small businesses

(12 August 2010 − Global) Card giant Visa has upgraded the Visa Business Network to incorporate social media to allow small business customers to connect with and gain insight from their peers. Visa has enhanced the Visa Business Network by allowing social media functions to work with the firm’s Business Goal Tool Kit, a step-by-step ‘how to’ guide that leads small business owners through the process of setting and achieving business goals.

They can now utilise a small business mentoring program, allowing business owners to get personalised help and guidance from other business owners; and quick links to useful sites/information other business owners have rated as well as a question and answer forum.

The card giant said in a statement that the upgrade was developed in response to direct feedback from small business owners.

Raghav Lal, head of global small business, Visa, said that the network enables small business owners to pursue their passions by providing payment products and tools to help them succeed.

The Visa Business Network extends our commitment to supporting small businesses by offering unique networking capabilities that help them grow their business, and access the resources to manage it more effectively. From step-by-step guidance on common business practices, to providing access to other small businesses that have overcome similar challenges-- this site delivers a wealth of practical tools that support small business, Mr Lal added.
