Warwick Smith named ANZ NSW chairman
(11 January 2007 – Australia) ANZ has appointed Warwick Smith as chairman for New South Wales. He will report to group managing director of Institutional, Steve Targett.
Smith’s most recent role was executive director of Macquarie Bank where he chaired the Telecommunications, Entertainment and Technology Group.
He was also the inaugural ombudsman to the Australian telecommunications industry and national president of the Australia China Business Council.
Smith spent 17 years in Federal Parliament where he held a number of ministerial portfolios including Family and Aged Services, Sport, Territories, and Local Government.
"He will be a valuable addition to the leadership team of the Institutional division, particularly given his depth of knowledge and enthusiasm for Asia," Mr Targett said.
