WBC gets restructured

(21 July 2008 – Australia) Westpac’s chief executive, Gail Kelly, has announced a restructure of the core of the organisation. The changes to the Westpac organisational structure are said to deliver on the banks customer service strategy and put customers at the centre of the business.

Chief Executive, Gail Kelly, said that Westpac has now focussed on improving service deliver to customers by the explicit goal of earning all of their customers’ business.

Kelly said that Westpac intended to significantly strengthen their consumer and business banking distribution by building strong, locally empowered businesses.

Further, Kelly also said that Westpac’s key priority is to redesign their product processes and operations for ease of use. Technology capability both in the short and long run is also a priority.

Westpac will combine the customer facing activities of its consumer and business financial services divisions into one business.

The new division will cover customers from retail, small to medium enterprises and commercial customers. Current head of the business division, Peter Hanlon, will take up leadership of the expanded division.

The current executive of the retail division will take up the role of Executive of Product and Operations. The new division will include the likes of product development, management and operations.

To support the new structure, Westpac has also announced the formation of a dedicated Technology division. Former CBA CIO, Bob McKinnon, has been appointed to the position.
