Wesfarmers boss could join NAB board

Wesfarmers boss could join NAB board

(8 June 2004 – Australia) Wesfarmers chief executive Michael Chaney is being touted as a potential National Australia Bank board member, according to media reports. Chaney, who is due to step down as Wesfarmers boss next month, is reportedly one of the NAB board’s top choices for a position on the board.

He is also seen as being popular with shareholders as the bank moves to recover from the recent boardroom shenanigans.

Chaney himself has said he will more than likely join other boards once he retires from Wesfarmers. He is currently a director of BHP Billiton.

There is speculation that Chaney could even replace Graham Kraehe as chairman. Kraehe has said he will relinquish the role before the middle of next year.
