Westpac banks on new ad campaign

(15 May 2009 – Australia) Westpac has recently launched a new advertising campaign, going back to the basics of corporate responsibility and doing the right thing. The Big Four bank said that on the 10th of May it launched an advertising campaign based on a review of its corporate strategy to put customers at the heart of everything the bank does.

Westpac described the result as; a sharper, customer centred positioning built on the bank's reputation for foresight, vision, stability and doing the right thing.

Andrew Seager, general manager marketing for Westpac Retail and Business Banking said that despite uncertain times, the bank’s strategy is to push forward, by continuing to grow, opening branches and business banking centres and hiring new Bank Managers as well as local business bankers.

The new advertising campaign re-introduces the phrase 'We're a bank you can bank on', which Westpac described as a subtle nod to the bank’s heritage as the Bank of NSW.

It is also intended to give a sense of dependability and security, something increasingly important in today's ever changing environment. The campaign also communicates the message of security, stability and thinking things through.

Westpac said that the advertising campaign was also aligned to its move to bring back the local Bank Manager, thus bringing back both a community and individual understanding.
