Westpac HR executive to retire
(25 September 2009- Australia) An announcement was made by Westpac, group chief executive officer, Gail Kelly, that Ilana Atlas, group executive of the People business unit, will be retiring from the group in December 2009.
Ms Atlas has been responsible for People and Corporate Affairs and Sustainability for the last six years having originally joined Westpac as Group Secretary and General council in 2000.
Westpac highlighted its contribution to the community in which it operates and noted that Ms Atlas was a driving force behind many of these achievements.
Ms Atlas’ contribution to the bank includes introducing a range of initiatives that has given the workplace flexibility and diversity, Mrs Kelly said.
Her role also saw her play a part as General Council in helping to lay the foundations for the governance framework in Westpac.
Westpac CEO, Gail Kelly said that an internal and external search will commence shortly for Ms Atlas’ replacement.
Mrs Kelly highlighted the importance of the role; she commented that it is critical to the overall vision and strategy of the bank.
