Westpac signs US$50 million deal

(11 November 2009 – Australia) Westpac has signed an initial five year term contract worth US$50 million with Hypercom, one of the world’s largest providers of complete electronic payment solutions. The deal, to commence in 2010, will see thousands of Optimum T4200 countertop terminals installed at merchants throughout Australia.

Hypercom will also be responsible for servicing Westpac’s currently installed base of over 80,000 terminals.

Jacques-Herve Maupin, managing director, Asia Pacific, Hypercom, said that the decision to switch to Hypercom represents a huge market share gain for the company in Australia and New Zealand.

Mr Maupin also highlighted that the deal would considerably expand the company’s footprint and is an endorsement for the company and its products.
