Westpac to spend A$200 million on CRM

(Australia) - Australia's Westpac Banking Corp will spend A$200 million on a new customer relationship management (CRM) system. The new system, to be called Project Reach, will involve contributions from software maker Siebel, data-mining toolmaker SAS, Telstra and IBM Global Services.

Westpac acting chief technology officer Harry Wendt said the new system will present a unified view of cross-department customer data, and would help staff improve customer service and marketing.

The goal is to complete the project in three years.
