ANZ appoints NE-Asia head

ANZ appoints NE-Asia head

(22 April 2008 – Asia) ANZ has announced the appointment of Alistair Bulloch to the position of chief executive officer, North East Asia. Bulloch was previously head of wholesale and commercial banking in Korea for SCB. He has more than 20 years banking experience and was previously head of client relationships in both China and Taiwan.

ANZ chief executive officer Mike Smith said that the appointment focuses on ANZ’s continued drive for growth and innovation in Asia as an important element in their progress toward becoming a Super Regional bank over the next five plus years.

He also said that Alistair’s expertise in rapidly building businesses in Asian markets that are significant to ANZ will be invaluable in pursuit of their growth strategy in these markets.

Bulloch will be responsible for ANZ’s businesses and partnerships in Greater China, including Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, in Japan and Korea.

Bulloch reports to the Group Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Alex Thursby, commenced in the role in April and is based in Hong Kong.
