ANZ gets new COO

(28th October, 2003 – Australia) ANZ has appointed Bob Edgar as chief operating officer, reporting directly to chief executive John McFarlane. Edgar will be responsible for overseeing operational business plans and performance and will also manage ANZ’s specialist businesses on a day-to-day basis.

Edgar joins the senior management team of CFO Peter Marriot, group managing director, Development, Peter Hawkins and CEO McFarlane.

McFarlane said the appointment would free him up to focus on the New Zealand businesses in the light of the National Bank of New Zealand acquisition.
