ANZ wins latest Best Business Bank award

(12 July 2006 – Australia) ANZ has taken out the Best Business Bank gong in the latest round of banking industry awards. Australian Banking & Finance magazine named ANZ Best Business Bank for the second year in a row. ANZ managing director of Business Banking, James Flintoft, accepted the award at a ceremony at Sydney’s Westin Hotel.

The award means that ANZ shares the mantle of Australia’s best business bank with St George which took out the prize in last month’s Money Magazine Bank Awards. Fairfax’s CFO publication will name its Best Business Bank later this year.

At Australian Banking & Finance’s awards, Macquarie Bank won Best Financial Institution for 2006 while the bank’s chief executive Allan Moss was named Best Financial Services Executive.

National Australia Bank’s Michael Ullmer won Chief Financial Officer of the Year while his colleague Michelle Tredenick won CIO of the Year.

HSBC won Best Foreign Bank and Suncorp took out the Best Regional Bank award for the second time in a row, and the fourth time in 10 years.

St George came away with two prizes: Best New Product for its no deposit home loans, and chief executive officer Gail Kelly accepted her induction in the Hall of Fame via a video message.
