HSBC names Lake as global head of debt capital markets
(11 July 2006 – UK) HSBC has appointed Spencer Lake as its new global head of Debt Capital Markets.
Lake has joined HSBC from Merrill Lynch where he spent 17 years working for the bank in the US, Europe and Asia. He will report to head of Global Capital Markets Daniel Palmer.
Lake has replaced Roger Thomson who has taken up the role of head of European Debt Capital Markets at HSBC.
Palmer said debt capital markets touched many different product areas within the bank and Lake’s experience meant he was ideally suited to lead the bank’s efforts in the area.
HSBC restructured its corporate and investment banking operations earlier in 2006, and divided its business into global banking, global markets and global transaction banking.
