Bank of Queensland opens first Victorian branch

Bank of Queensland opens first Victorian branch

(17 August 2004 – Australia) Bank of Queensland has continued the roll out of branches outside its home state, opening its first ever branch in Victoria. The Frankston business is one of 100 owner-managed branches the bank plans to open in Victoria and New South Wales over the next two years.

The Frankston branch will be manned by three owner-managers, John Hicks, Mark Nicholas and Jason Padam, who have 40 years of banking and finance experience between them.

Bank of Queensland managing director, David Liddy, said the opening of owner-manager braches signalled a new era in customer service in Victoria and New South Wales as it had done in Queensland.

"The person who manages the branch also owns the branch," he said.

"Like any small business, their livelihood depends on keeping their customers happy and going out of their way to ensure this happens."

One of the Frankston branch owner-manager, John Hicks, said he believed the new business would make a significant difference to the way the local community does its banking.

"We will go the extra mile, including opening on Saturday mornings and visiting customers at their business or residence. Being owner-managers means we are also small business owners ourselves and can relate directly to the needs of the SME market," he said.

"There’s nothing better than when you ring a company and a person answers the phone and that’s what happens at Bank of Queensland," Hicks said.
