BOQ also into Mobiles

BOQ also into Mobiles

(13 February 2008 – Australia) Bank of Queensland (BOQ) is the latest Australian bank to announce their intent to launch a mobile banking service this year. BOQ’s Mobile Banking system will allow customers to check balances, transaction history and their account details, make payments, pay a bill, transfer money, have a receipt transferred to them and check their payment history.

Dan Musson, group executive, People and Corporate Services, indicated that the simple browser based platform would give the service a large reach. The system will work with any SSL capable browser.

He also said that the system would use similar security to their internet banking platform, including transaction verification via BOQ’s security token.

An SMS-based ATM location service will also be included which works by the user sending their location and being given a list of the closest ATMs.

The announcement comes after both ANZ and NAB announced their intent to offer mobile banking services in Australia.
