CBA steps up mobile offer

CBA steps up mobile offer

(24 March 2009 – Australia) CBA has unveiled its next generation of mobile internet banking, with a range of internet based services available on mobile phones. CBA announced the launch of what it called its next generation mobile internet banking service, which is to be available for free on any internet enabled mobile phone.

This next generation of mobile banking is a step up from the previously offered SMS banking offered by some banks, which includes simple transactions via SMS notifications.

A similar internet banking offering is available through ANZ, but so far only for the iPhone.

By logging on to a simplified website, CBA users can executive various transactions including checking account balances and scheduled transactions, transferring funds to third party bank accounts, paying bills using BPAY, and reviewing future transactions.

Through the website, customers can also view current applications with the bank, see their current CommSec trading balance and locate their nearest Commonwealth Bank branch or ATM. This includes GPS with the iPhone.

According to CBA Executive General Manager for Retail Products, Michael Cant, this new technology forms part of CBA’s focus on giving customers more choice about the way they manage their money.
