Citi pinches Hocking from Deutsche

(1 May 2007 – Asia) Foreign banks’ battle for talent in Asia continues apace with Citigroup the latest to nab staff from a rival bank. Citigroup announced that it had hired Lane Hocking from Deutsche Bank to head up the US bank’s non Japan Asia equity finance trading business.

Hocking, who had been head of prime services for Deutsche’s Japan business, joins Citigroup as managing director, reporting to Asia Pacific prime brokerage chief Hannah Goodwin.

The appointment comes as Citigroup takes on international rivals such as Goldman Sachs and UBS in Asia's burgeoning hedge funds market. Citigroup opened a prime brokerage office in Singapore this year.
