Cyberthief recruitment

Cyberthief recruitment

(5 February 2010 – USA) Cyberthieves are advertising online for contractors that are willing to take a malicious code and link it to something consumers will click on; paying around US$180 (A$204) for each 1000 times their malware is downloaded as a result. A threat intelligence analyst for SecureWorks said that it is aware of two companies that are hiring, at least on a contractor basis, and are using online advertising sites.

The company that advertises the US$180 dollars per 1000 downloads commission has rules and regulations the first being that it refuses to pay for any downloads to any Russian computers.

Mr Stevens said that this leads him to believe, and many others, that it like many other sites is domiciled in Russia.

The advertisement also says that they will pay your wages through Fethard, Webmoney, Wire, e-gold, Western Union, MoneyGram, Anelik, ePassporte or PayPal.

Mr Stevens said it was impossible to know how many computers were infected via these companies, but put the number in the millions.
