Deutsche Bank replaces core platform

(1 February 2010 – Europe) Deutsche Bank and SAP, a business software provider, have announced the bank’s plans to replace its core banking system with a total SAP solution. The implementation of the SAP system underpins the bank’s strategy for standardisation within a service-oriented architecture (SOA) environment.

Using the SAP software, Deutsche Bank is aiming to boost efficiency and profitability as well as to accelerate time to market when rolling out new products and services to even better serve the bank's clients.

The new core banking system shall comprise partner data, payments, account management and savings applications.

Hermann-Josef Lamberti, chief operating officer, Deutsche Bank said IT is a business driver and catalyst. It ought to be flexible, cost-efficient and scalable in order to support business growth.

Mr Lamberti also added that the bank is aiming to shape the industry and set new standards to manage processes and services even more consistently and efficiently with a new core banking system. SAP's solution portfolio offers the core banking functionality to improve effectiveness at all levels.

Léo Apotheker, CEO, SAP, said that the initiative at Deutsche Bank is a significant achievement for SAP, proving their strength in the banking space and SAP’s expertise to address their business demands.
