Macquarie Group adds to Energy Division

(26 April 2010 – USA) Macquarie Group's Energy Markets Division (EMD) has announced that Robert Faitell will join as a senior managing director and head of Americas Sales and Origination in the firm's New York office. Established in 2002, Macquarie's Energy Markets Division is a global sales and trading business participating in US physical and financial natural gas, coal, oil trading, power and UK utilities.

EMD is a part of Macquarie's Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) business group.

Mr Faitell brings over 20 years of energy banking and commodities derivative experience to Macquarie and joins the firm from Morgan Stanley’s Commodities Group, where he was most recently managing director and head of Corporate Client Coverage for the Americas.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 1996, Mr Faitell also spent ten years at BNP Paribas where he held a number of roles, including positions in Project Finance, Leveraged Finance and Commodity Derivatives Sales.

Nicholas O'Kane, senior managing director and global head of Macquarie’s Energy Markets Division said that the firm is pleased Mr Faitell will be joining its Energy Markets Division.

Mr Faitell’s depth of experience in energy markets and strong client relationships will be invaluable to Macquaire as it looks to further grow and expand its energy trading and client coverage activities in the Americas, Mr O’Kane added.
