Merger finally complete

(1 December 2008 – Australia) As of the start of December, the merger between Westpac and St George has reached its completion. On December 2008, the two merged entities announced that the merger has been implemented.

This means that all St George shares have officially been converted into Westpac shares.

As a result of the merger, all directors of the St George Board have resigned.

As previously announced to the market, former St George board members John Curtis, Graham Reaney and Peter Hawkins have will take their place on the Westpac Board starting immediately.

With St George now a subsidiary of Westpac, a new St George Board has also commenced.

Curtis and Hawkins will serve on the board, with Lindsay Maxsted, Gail Kelly (Managing Director and CEO of Westpac) and Greg Bartlett (Chief Executive, St George Retail and Business Bank).

Mr Curtis will be Chairman of St George.
