NAB appoints GM of ‘growth’

(16 September 2010 – Australia) National Australia Bank has announced the appointment of Antony Cahill as executive general manager ‘growth’ within the bank’s personal banking business. Mr Cahill will be responsible for ramping up the bank’s third party businesses, Advantedge and NAB Broker (NAB Partnerships).

Mr Cahill’s position is expected to be a continuation of Matt Lawer’s work as executive general manager of NAB Partnerships, from which Mr Lawler announced his resignation from earlier this year.

Upon announcing his resignation, Mr Lawler that while no-one would officially replace him, NAB Partnerships would be joined by UBank to form a ‘portfolio of businesses’.

That partnership has now been created and will subsequently be led by Mr Cahill, who joins the team after more than 11 years with ANZ.

Mr Cahill has spent the last two years acting as the global head of payments and cash management for ANZ’s Institutional Bank.

Prior to that, he held several key roles including ANZ’s head of wholesale mortgages distribution; chief executive of One Direct – ANZ’s direct mortgage business; and chief executive of Origin Mortgages.
