NAB reveals IBM specifics
(16 December 2010 – Australia) National Australia Bank has made public details about its technology outsourcing deal with IBM.
Under the new deal IBM will be taking over the management of NAB’s IT infrastructure, including operating systems, service desks, printing, desktop fleet management, storage and hosting and mainframes.
NAB also revealed that the staff affected by the outsourcing deal had been offered employment by IBM, with the majority accepting the offered position with the technology giant.
NAB maintained that the staff were offered comparable terms and conditions of employment.
The big four bank refused to reveal the exact length of the deal, however would say that it is a "multi-year arrangement".
Gavin Slater, group executive of Group Business Services at the bank, said that keeping the bank safe as well as simplifying and improving NAB’s technology was a key strategic priority.
'Partnering with leading service providers is one way NAB is helping to achieve this,' Mr Slater added.
