NAB targets young with trendy credit card

(3 February 2005 – Australia) National Australia Bank has launched a new Visa Mini credit card in a brazen attempt to target young, fashion conscious consumers. The card is almost half the size of a normal credit card and comes in different colours and "accessories", such as straps, card covers and phone hooks.

The cards can be swiped when making purchases but are too small to be used in an ATM so the customer is also given a full size version of the card.

Customers get up to A$10 cash back automatically generated to their National Visa Mini accounts each month.

The bank said the message of its advertising campaign is the card is so small consumers can "Wear it out".

"With its choice of colours and new size, the National Visa Mini Card appeals to the young at heart and style conscious customer," NAB general manager, Cards and Personal Loans, Andrew Maitland said.
