NAB to move more jobs to India
(25 August 2006 – Australia) NAB has announced it will outsource 81 back office Finance jobs to India, extending the bank’s current outsourcing arrangements with Accenture.
The positions being outsourced are not direct customer facing roles and mainly revolve around data entry, data validation and accounts administration. The bank said it will work with existing employees to find them alternative opportunities.
"With any outsourcing initiative, our aim is to re-skill and re-deploy our people to other roles within the business. We have consulted openly with our people about our plans and will work with them to find new opportunities," said NAB chief financial officer Australia, Ewen Stafford.
NAB set up a pilot program 10 months ago and found that the move is likely to bring about a range of productivity and efficiency improvements.
"We established a pilot program involving 24 Accounts Payable roles with Accenture 10 months ago which has seen an increase in productivity, reduction in error rates and some great process improvements," Stafford added.
The bank is planning to outsource the roles to Accenture’s Delivery Centre in Bangalore by April 2007.
