Nightmare at NAB continues

Nightmare at NAB continues

(2 December 2010 – Australia) The nightmare at the National Australia Bank, which saw thousands of customers without access to their pays, still lingers, with a source revealing that the bank has lost thousands of transactions. A source within the bank told BusinessDay, that as of Wednesday, 60,000 transactions- not accounts- had been lost by NAB.

The missing transactions appear to be the side effect of the IT staff’s attempts to fix files affected by the initial technical meltdown.

George Wright, a National Australia Bank spokesman, said that there continued to be isolated instances where transactions needed to be posted to some customer accounts.

"We are working to resolve this as a matter of high priority and it will be fixed as soon as possible," Mr Wright said.

BusinessDay said it was under the impression from the bank’s IT department that it must now manually process the files to reconstruct the data.
