Tyro a healthy competitor

Tyro a healthy competitor

(6 February 2008 – Australia) Independent Australian acquirer Tyro (formerly known as MoneySwitch) has launched integrated EFTPOS with health software partner HCN for Australia's general practices. In a communiqué from Tyro chief executive officer Jost Stollmann, he noted that there are 15,000 primary health practices in Australia that could benefit from its integrated EFTPOS and Medicare Easyclaim solution.

Tyro launched its first internet based EFTPOS facility in April 2007, since when Toyota, Coca-Cola, Mecca, Chanel, Readings, Nandos and other merchants have engaged Tyro for their credit and debit card acceptance.

Stollmann admitted that challenging the status quo – i.e. the major acquirers’ near monopoly – was a daunting task.

He said Tyro needed to continue spreading the word to merchants and software vendors who would benefit from a challenger acquirer with a ‘can do’ attitude.
