UBS staff take data on the road

(2 November 2005 – Global) Swiss investment bank UBS is set to provide 2,500 of its employees with real time market news and data via their Blackberry handsets after inking a deal with Reuters. Reuters teamed up with bank focussed Swiss IT company, Tech OP, to develop the wireless delivery system for UBS.

UBS said its staff were no longer tied to their desks and there was a huge demand for this kind of open data management system.

UBS managing director of FX/cash and collateral trading, Peter Healey, said the bank’s workforce had become increasingly mobile and needed access to market information outside of normal working hours.

"It also needs to have reliable and comprehensive data with maximum availability," he said.
