Bank of Ireland upgrades online banking

(14 June 2006 – Europe) Bank of Ireland will spend five million euros (A$8.5 million) on upgrading its internet banking platform. The bank said its number of online customers had grown by 88 percent over the past four years to more than half a million customers.

BOI said its number of unique logins had hit an annual total of 17 million and that bill payments and money transfers had grown by 128 percent over the same period to more than four million each year.

The new website will allow customers to register accounts online and alter direct debits and other payments. For the less tech savvy customers, the site will feature an online demo with a step by step explanation of how to use the service.
