New chairman for Deutsche Australia & NZ

New chairman for Deutsche Australia & NZ

(23 March 2007 – Australia; New Zealand) Deutsche Bank has appointed John Macfarlane as chairman for Australia and New Zealand. Macfarlane – not to be confused with the Scottish born ANZ chief executive of the same name – has been head of its operations in Japan for Deutsche.

Macfarlane is a New Zealander who began his career with the New Zealand Treasury in the early 1980s and came to Deutsche as a result of the investment bank acquiring Bankers Trust New Zealand in 1999.

Macfarlane will replace Clive Smith who retires on 15 June.
