Rabo issues green credit card in home market

(26 September 2006 – Europe) Dutch banking giant Rabobank is doing its bit for the environment in its home market with the launch of a new 'climate credit card'. Each time the card is used the bank will make a contribution to environmental projects run by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

The amount Rabobank will contribute depends on what type of purchase is being made by its cardholders, and more importantly on the impact the purchase might have on greenhouse gases.

So if the credit card is used to buy petrol, for example, the bank will make a larger contribution to an environmentally friendly project than if would if the customer was shopping in a supermarket.
